Recondition Process

.) Prior to purchasing a used EDM machine, an EDM Systems technician is sent to thoroughly inspect, check and perform cutting tests to establish the EDM machines condition. The service history is then reviewed with the EDM manufacture to insure that the machine did not have re-occurring problems. If the machine is acceptable, it is then properly packaged and shipped to our facility.

.) These photos show a used wire EDM machine. Once the machine arrives to the EDM Systems facility we first install, test and qualify the machine. It is then disassembled piece by piece. The work tank is removed and cleaned then repainted with a special Epoxy based polymer to resist wear and chipping. The pedestals and tables are cleaned and if needed reground flat. The lower and upper arms and all other components are removed, cleaned, inspected for damage, and replaced if necessary.

.) The covers are removed from the XY tables, Z column, and UV axes and all items are cleaned and inspected. The ways and ball screws are then lubricated, checked for accuracy and replaced if needed.

.) The boards, PC, and CRT are then removed. The EDM power supply is then thoroughly cleaned. The boards and other electronics are cleaned then inspected for component damage.

.) The next photo shows an untouched supply tank before cleaning. The tank is then completely torn down as shown in the following photo. The pumps are removed and cleaned. New pump seals are installed if needed. All parts are thoroughly cleaned and inspected. Then the tank is acid washed and power blasted to remove any stubborn dirt. The components are then painted and re-assembled.

.) After the machine and all components are re-assembled, an EDM System engineer again tests the machine for speed, accuracy, and finish to insure the machine is operating to the original manufactures specifications.

.) The machine is then properly prepared for shipping. The X, Y, and Z table locks and brackets are mounted. All electronics are secured to prevent shipping damage. New guides, filters, resin, contacts, and other consumables are replaced before shipping.

.) After the EDM machine arrives at the customer's facility, a qualified EDM Systems engineer will install, test, and perform on-site training. Every reconditioned EDM machine will be provided with a warrantee as well as free phone support.
